NADA Inc. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - March 18, 2020 8:00pm

As you may know, the Federal Government and Provincial Governments made further announcements today relating to COVID-19.

Today NL Health Minister John Haggie has declared a public health emergency over the COVID-19 global pandemic, and the province is ordering multiple types of business to close. Gyms, fitness facilities, cinemas, performance spaces, arenas and bars must close their doors.

While it is not 100% clear that we fall in the above listed categories, the BOD had already made the decision to end classes tomorrow, postpone the start of Session 2, and let drop-ins continue for the month, but to re-evaluate as new information presented and/or to follow directives issued by the Provincial, Federal and/or City authorities.

The emergency order enables penalties and consequences to be levied against people who don't comply with the new restrictions.  Individuals face a fine between $500 to $2,500 or a prison sentence of less than six months or a combination of the two. Corporations can face fines of $5,000 and $50,000 and directors would be held personally liable and susceptible to individual fines. Fines and penalties will multiply after the first instance.

The BOD has discussed the new developments and we must comply with the public health emergency directives.

Please be advised of the following:

  • As of 11:59pm Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the Facility is CLOSED until further notice.

We will ask the Registrar to start reaching out to those who had registered for Session 2.

We are hopeful with the pro-active approaches, that COVID-19 will have very limited impact here in NL and Canada.

Thank you all for your cooperation during this difficult time.
