RALLY CARO COURSE RUNNING: NOVICE
Wednesdays from 7:30-8:45 for 4 weeks; June 3rd, June 10th, June 17th and June 23rd with Lois Hammond
You've worked hard to learn the signs and skills associated with rally but now it's time to put these skills together and run a full course. Whether you are working on increasing your dog's ability to do multiple skills in a row before receiving a treat or helping your dog get used to being in a competitive environment, this course is for you. Teams will have the opportunity to do two Novice level courses each week. Their performance will be judged as if at a trial and feedback will be provided. Handlers will also have the opportunity to learn how to fully participate in the competitive experience, learning how to be a ring steward, set up a course using a map, and act as a timer. When preparing for trials, novice handlers often overlook training their dog to relax in a kennel while the handler is busy elsewhere. This is a skill you will be able to work on in this trial-like setting. This four-week course is packed with opportunities for teams to better prepare for the real trial as each week we will mimic the trial experience.
